Sustainability – I firmly believe that the greatest threat to our generation will be climate change. And I also believe that we can act locally to respond to it. Our city’s Community Services Department has shown a commitment to sustainability through its community partnerships and planning. But there is so much more to be done.
Claremont’s urban forest consists of approximately 24,000 city trees. Yet, our tree population is under attack from a variety of threats – drought, disease, and pests like the shot-hole borer. For several years, we as city removed more trees than we re-planted. If we are going to combat climate change, it is going to take a concerted effort, and it can start with trees. We need a long term plan to protect and expand our urban forest and fight climate change.
- Support for senior citizens
- Ensuring Claremont’s financial solvency
- Building a safe and modern police facility
